A selection of places to get some lunch, a  snack or something more substantial around the University.

Eating Out

on campus

The University has a canteen at Handelshögskolans main building at Vasagatan 1. The price of the Lunch menu there is 90 SEK.

off campus

The average lunch costs approx. 120 SEK per person. Dinner for two without wine in a mid-priced restaurant costs approx. 500 SEK. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby, and prices vary so you can choose according to your budget. There are smaller coffee shops and pizzeria that are cheaper.

There are several around the conference sites, as we are in the city center (all the options within 15 minutes’ walk)

Favourites close to the University:

  • Cà Phê – Vasagatan 5C. Vietnamese restaurant right next tot he Faculty
  • Sjöbaren- . Haga Nygata 25. Classic Swedish Seafood restaurant in the charming Haga neighbourhood. There is another one in Lorensberg area, which is also fairly close to conference venue (15 minutes max by foot) Adress: .Lorenbsetgsgatan 14.
  • Burgersson - Skanstorget 4. The popular burgers, and the relaxed atmosphere attract Gothenburg’s burger-lovers.
  • Kometen – Vasagatan 58. Homely fare in a historic restaurant setting.
  • Tre Indier – Skanstorget 7. Indian restaurant with afordable menu.
  • Benne Pastabar – Skanstorget 3. Daily fresh pasta at a fair price.


  • Levantine – Aschebergsgatan 22. French bistro with everything from oysters and champagne to croissants.
  • Botanico –  Aschebergsgatan 22. Exotic flavours and a touch of rain forest in the neighbourhood of Vasastaden.

Market hall and around:

  • Kåges Corner and Lunchbar (Stora Saluhallen) –  Broad menu with a focus on home cooking, but also pasta salads and some lighter dishes, a lot of fish.
  • Jinx Dynasty – Vallgatan 21B. Jinx Dynasty may be tiny but the culinary experience is huge; they serve Asian streetfood with international elements.
  • Vapiano – Östra Hamngatan 35. Informal restaurant that offers fresh pasta dishes, as well as pizza and salads.
  • Ölhallen 7:an – Kungstorget 7. Gothenburg’s oldest beer pub.


  • Several restaurants of different price levels, many are large and not very fancy. Some are a little pricey.

Andra Långgatan:

  • Dirty Records - Andra Långgatan 4. Vegetarian restaurant with great selection of beer, and a record store!
  • Haket Pub - Första Långgatan 32. Haket pub serves a large variety of beers and has an outdoor seating area with afternoon sun. Everyone is welcome and the pub attracts a mixed crowd.
  • Brewers Beer Bar - Tredje Långgatan 8. With its ever changing tap selection, Brewers Beer Bar is a must stop for everyone who loves beer.

Nordstan (Götgatan, 10):

Large shopping mall close to the central station. There you’ll find 200 shops offering the latest in all possible areas. The largest collection is in fashion – clothing and shoes. You will also find cosmetics, consumer electronics, sport shops, flowers, toys, home furnishings, banks, liquors, restaurants, pharmacy and much more.
